A Letter from Ruth Cross, President of Houston Early Music

Dear Friends of Houston Early Music,

I am writing, first, to thank you warmly for your past support of Houston Early Music, and second, to make an urgent plea for your further support.  In short, the long-term effects of a lingering recession threaten our ability to continue bringing world-class early music talent to Houston.  Our situation is this: revenue from individual, foundation and government arts funding has decreased while the expenses of venue rentals, artist’s travel expenses, and postage have all increased.

Houston Early Music therefore turns to you, our generous supporters, to help us continue the important work we do.  Please consider making a contribution to the organization right away, remembering that your donation is tax deductible and that you can donate online at www.houstonearlymusic.org/donations, or mail a check made payable to Houston Early Music to P. O. Box 271193, Houston, Texas 77277.

In closing, let me again thank you for your past support and emphasize the serious financial challenges facing Houston Early Music that motivate this appeal.  I also invite you to our website to learn about the five unique and exciting concerts scheduled for the 2012-13 season (www.houstonearlymusic.org).  I wish you and your family good health and a restful summer.  I hope to you see at our opening concert on October 12, which features El Mundo and its fascinating exploration of music in Baroque Spain and its exotic New World colonies.

Yours sincerely,
Ruth Cross, President
Houston Early Music
