Peter Jensen

Peter earned a B.S. in Oceanography from S.U.N.Y. Maritime College and a M.S. in Environmental Management from the University of Maryland.

Upon receiving his B.S., Peter accepted a U.S. Coast Guard Commission and served 29-years (Active and Reserve, including a 4-year Tour of Duty in Texas). During 2 of his Reserve years, he sailed as Third Mate on Tankships with Mobil Oil Corporation. In 1997, he accepted a position again with Mobil Corporation, which became Exxon Mobil Corporation. In 2009, Peter retired as a Commander from the U.S. Coast Guard.

After living and working in Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia Peter returned to Texas, in 2012, to accept a new position with Exxon Mobil.

When he retired from Exxon Mobil, in 2017, he sought volunteering opportunities that would allow him to "Give Back" to People and the Environment.  He found The Bayou Land Conservancy (BLC), Houston Maritime Museum and Education Center, and the Montgomery County Food Bank.  As he describes it, he receives "Triple Time" for his volunteer hours.

Peter is on the BLC Board, a BLC Trail and Conservation Crew Member and a Certified Texas Master Naturalist, in the Heartwood Chapter.  He is also on the Montgomery County Food Bank Safety Committee, and a Docent for the Houston Maritime Museum and Education Center. He enjoys sailing, SCUBA diving, hiking, reading, Early Music and traveling.

Peter and his wife Carol were annual subscribers to various concert series in the Washington, D.C. area. When they returned to Texas, they were very happy to find HEM, Bach Society of Houston, the Houston Revels and Jones Concert Hall.

Peter and Carol reside in The Woodlands and have 3 adult sons, Evan, Matthew and Alex.
